  1. Would love to hear your thoughts on HRT in post-menopausal women who have Premature Ovarian Failure (genetic) regarding bone loss, and all the other unfriendly symptoms happening at a young age.

  2. Well that's not straight forward at all. Kind of the bottom line is HRT for the rest of your life isn't ideal because of a risk of blood clots and breast cancer. But treating with HRT until some arbitrary age that menopause normally would have happened is usually what we do. Regular weight bearing exercise, other than couch surfing, and plenty of calcium and vitamin D might be as important if not more important than taking HRT for another 10 years until menopause was supposed to be.

The women's health initiative told us about 8 years ago that the message we used to tell women , that HRT is good for you regardless of your menopausal symptoms, that it will prevent Alzheimer's and bone loss AND heart attacks was wrong. So once you hit late 40s, then worry about when to stop HRT. Until then, take the kids for a walk 4 times a week and continue not to smoke. The HRT is just giving you what your ovaries were contractually obligated to provide.
